Pat, our winemaker started down the path of winemaking 20 years ago initially to make his new wife, Eileen, happy.

Eileen had developed a love for wines (especially RED) while living in California and after returning to PA was frustrated trying to find a PA wine that met her expectations of body and complexity.

So what would any good husband with a passion to create do, but learn about wine through the guiding eyes of lifetime winemakers, devouring countless books on the subject, attending winemaking conferences while jumping off onto his own. All paths led to the same answer...there is NO substitute for age old, one step at a time, winemaking processes with the best of ingredients, including grapes and juice from California, Italy, Chile and France...matching those flavors with the perfect yeast then blending and aging to bring out the best of each grape.

Porchvue Wines evolved with our love of the process of making wine, the process of bottling with friends, the process of sampling and sampling and sampling!! The last piece of the puzzle was found as we sat on our front porch, enjoying our property and our human and animal neighbors...there is no substitute for a relaxing moment, sitting on a porch chair, with a fine glass of your own wine in hand. Ahhhh.
