Mother’s Day, 1964 marked the opening of the 22 lane bowling center, which then – and until today – serves the Port Huron community as Port Huron Lanes. Originally, the Center was part of the Port Huron Motor Inn complex, conceived, built and operated by Asher N. Tilchin on behalf of a group of investors. Today only the Lanes stand, owned and operated by Asher and his family.
Many seminal events mark the history of the 48 ½ years of the Port Huron Lanes and Entertainment Center – but to its owners, the defining event that has contributed to the Lanes’ success has been the 27 years of management service by Bill and Bonnie Harris. As teenagers, Bill and Bonnie bowled at the Center in its early years, which in the 1960s was remembered as a state-of-the-art bowling alley. Many changes and improvements have followed.
Throughout their tenure, Bill and Bonnie have developed an outstanding state-wide recognized youth program out of which some of the area’s finest bowlers and citizens have emerged – including Matt Langoff – now the Center’s Assistant Manager.
The Tilchins are committed to maintaining the property as a first class bowling center, which meets the needs of the community. They, and the Center’s staff, look forward to your continued patronage
