More about Potawatomi Trail Committee

The Potawatomi Trail Committee is comprised of volunteer members guided by a volunteer board who all share a special interest in hiking, Scouting and preserving the integrity of the Potawatomi Trail. The Committee supports and maintains the Potawatomi Trail for respectful enjoyment by all outdoor enthusiasts and offers two specific organized hikes a year - the Fall Color Hike in October and the Winter Hike in January.

Established in 1964 by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the then Wolverine Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Potawatomi Trail celebrates 18 beautiful miles within the Pinckney Recreation Area.
Years later in 1986, the connecting Waterloo-Pinckney/Ninawkee Trail was completed and offers an additional 46 miles of trail extending into the nearby Waterloo Recreation Area.

Open to all who enjoy our great outdoors, portions of the trail systems are respectfully designated for hikers only. All efforts to observe this designation are critical to the preservation of the hiking trails and in the prevention of unnecessary and premature erosion.

Situated within the Pinckney State Recreation Area, the trails are open to the public for year-round enjoyment! Please visit our webpage for maps of the trails as well as for other useful information and dates.

While the trail may indeed be just down the road from Hell, it's genuine paradise!
