More about Potomac River Kayak

Are you ready for some prime time fun on the beautiful Potomac River?

Come kayak with Potomac River Kayak and enjoy a quiet, peaceful float along Maryland and Virginia's most popular river. The Potomac River is indelibly ‘on the map’ as a premier paddling destination in the MD/VA/WV area and has become one of the best places to catch a wide variety of fish. Paddlers from all over travel here to experience the unique beauty of what many call the "nations river." The beautiful Potomac River offers wildlife viewing, fishing, swimming, hiking trails, wilderness camping, fossil hunting, and of course, kayaking.

Within only a short distance from the boat ramp, paddlers enter the realm of wild nature and exploration. Kayakers view towering sycamore trees with white bark and soaring bald eagles, hear the rippling water, and the meaning of the true wilderness becomes apparent. Be transported back to the days of the Spanish explorers, Indians and first settlers as you explore this piece of the nation from days past.

Although evidence of a rich cultural history abounds if you know what to look for, the Potomac River has worked hard to achieve it’s wilderness designation. The river follows the historic C&O Canal for 184 miles. It is not difficult to imagine you were the first explorer to paddle the river and float along the C&O Canal, or first to step foot on the sandy beach of Paton Island, or first to feel the excitement of catching that monster small mouth bass or tiger musky. Some come out and enjoy catching fish while seeing blue heron, turtles, bald eagles and all other sorts of wildlife.

For the novice or experienced paddler, the Potomac offers something for all. Wilderness half-day, full-day, and overnight camping trips. The Potomac River runs through Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia and ending in Washington DC. The Float Trips we offer are conveniently located within driving distance for many of the states residents. Come find a little peace and become a Potomac River Kayaker Paddler!
