Presumpscot School

Presumpscot School is an Expeditionary Learning school located in Portland, Maine.

Learning occurs through grade-level expeditions (in-depth studies of a topic or theme) that are aligned with the Common Core and Maine State Standards.

The fundamental idea behind Expeditionary Learning is that students learn more by experiencing the world than by sitting in a classroom listening to a teacher talk about it. During expeditions students are involved in in-depth investigations of a topic that engages them in the world around them with authentic projects, fieldwork and service-learning projects.
