Since 2002, Prevailing Winds has provided our customers with authentic, hand crafted & hand painted ceramics from countries in the Mediterranean area. In 2008 we added ceramics from Mexico, a country strongly influenced by Spanish culture. We are a small, family owned company, and pride ourselves on providing exemplary customer service. The items we offer are produced in small quantities by skilled artisans in Italy, Spain, Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia, and Mexico, in many cases by families who have passed these skills down through many generations.

These are not the kind of items that you will find at your local big box store or import retail chain. These days, most of those items are mass-produced replicas made in factories in China. The large retailers simply are not interested in buying in small quantities from individual artisans. The end result is that the Mediterranean artisans who designed these pieces in the first place can no longer make a living practicing their trade. Prevailing Winds exists, in part, to help preserve those artistic traditions in Mediterranean countries. Everything we sell is handcrafted by skilled artisans from the Mediterranean and Mexico. We select every item ourselves, buy in small batches, and offer you this simple guarantee: if you find that any item you purchase from us does not meet or exceed your expectations, return it to us in new condition within 90 days for a refund.
