What is Plasti Dip?

Plasti Dip is a rubber based paint. It sprays on like paint, but peels like a Vinyl Wrap. It is also a much more affordable solution, as vinyl wrapping can easily surpass $3,000 per job.

Will it damage my existing paint?

No! Quite the opposite in fact, as the coating itself will protect your paint like a cell phone screen protector. In addition to that, it will preserve your paint from the damage Winter's salty roads can bring and keep your resale value up when you peel it back to reveal your OEM paint.

How long does it last?

While Plasti Dip is relatively new to the automotive industry (as far as painting entire cars at least), it is hard to say what it's maximum longevity is. The longest running car that was peeled was after 3 years. With Plasti Dips affordability however, many people who dip their cars peel them sooner so they can move on to another color! (Our founder has changed his car color 4 times in a year)

Can I wash my car once it is dipped?

The short answer, YES! In fact, the once terrifying machine washes that punch your car's paint with hard bristles are now welcomed to clean your cars exterior, though a nice touch-free pressure wash will work as well.

How long does it take?

Each car takes approximately 30-40 man hours including prep work, so depending on the workflow you can expect to have your car completed 2-3 days after you drop it off. We take extra care to mask the nooks and crannies so there is no over-spray, and go as far as to remove door handles and spoilers if necessary.

Will it void my warranty?

Most automotive companies do not warranty your exterior to begin with, however the paint itself can be removed without any damage to your car. In addition, there are laws that avoid manufacturers from denying claims unless they can prove that your modification was the reason for the problem.

Can I wax it?

Waxing is not necessary, however there is a product called Dip Coat (we include a bottle with your paintjob) which we recommend to wipe your car down with after a wash to really keep the sheen and richness to your paint.

Will the weather have any effect on the paint?

The Plast Dip paint has held up on our cars through Chicago's hottest days and coldest nights, so rest assured if you park your car outside, you won't walk out to a puddle of color under your car!

What colors are there?

Any color under the sun. From flat to satin to glossy, and even iridescent! We showcase a large quantity of samples at our shop, and we welcome you to come check them out. If we don't have it, we'll order you a sample!
