What is Powder Coating?

lPowder Coating looks like paint but acts like armor. Powder Coating is a highly durable, decorative and long lasting finish that can be applied to any metal surface for a gorgeous, rust- and scratch-resistant exterior. Choose virtually any color from matte black, to Incredible Hulk-ish green to an awesome dormant orange that subtly changes in the sun. Combine the color options with the range of finishes from matte to high gloss, wrinkled to hammered and you can make your equipment truly one of a kind. The range of colors and finishes is limited only by your imagination.

ECO-FRIENDLY
Powder Coating is a "green" process that is much more environmentally friendly than solvent based paint. It is virtually pollutant free.

Cars, trucks, ATVs, dirt bikes, guns - they will all benefit from the strength of a powder-coated finish that helps them take on the elements, along with all the fun you can dish out on them! Anything metal can be coated. Kids' toys last longer when left outside with the power of powder coating. WHEELS

Swap out those plain, stock wheels for something that will get you noticed. Wait till you see a black jeep with hot pink wheels, or a cherry red classic with iridescent green wheels – or try your favorite school colors on your motorcycle wheels.

Since we are not a tire facility, we do ask that you please dismount all tires from wheels and remove any rubber or weights as the initial preparation for any required sandblasting prior to coating.

OUTDOOR FURNITURE
Resistant to chipping and fading, powder coated colors will remain true for years. The array of available colors make it a perfect finish choice for outdoor furniture, hand railings, mailboxes, planters, and any other yard art you want to stand out.

A higher end option, Rubber coating is also available for outdoor furniture, providing smooth, exceptionally durable and long lasting protection. Rubber coated furniture has a thicker, velvety appearance and is very comfortable.....potentially reducing "waffle butt!"

HIGH HEAT
We also offer Cerakote ceramic coatings for all your high temperature requirements. We have coatings to withstand temperatures up to 2000˚F. This makes them perfect for exhaust systems and all racing applications where extreme durability and high performance are a must. We offer ceramic coatings available for pistons, firearms and all high wear applications. We stock numerous colors of ceramic coat.

SMALL, LOCAL & TRUE TO GRASS ROOTS IDEALS
Professional Powder Coating is regionally unique. Nestled in the under-appreciated metropolis of Pee Dee, Ky, we proudly boast the largest batch oven in Western Kentucky, able to accommodate items up to 8' x 20'. Additionally, our ability to accomplish on site sandblasting and metal preparation provides our customers a one stop shop for metal prep and powder coating. We house four separate ovens to handle everything from floor drains and switch plate covers, to vehicle and race car frames, so no job is too small. We are a family-run small business with a huge work ethic and our facility is now capable of small to medium scale production runs as well.

Professional Powder Coating Services

METAL PREP
Professional Powder CoatingFirst things first... PPC has metal prep options based on the starting condition of your items.

For previously painted items, PPC (that means Geno) will carefully sandblast your item to bare metal, but we do ask that you remove any components that are NOT metal. This means rubber feet, hoses, wooden legs or braces, plastic knobs, handles, attachments, or inserts, material of any sort, and metal-look decals.

For new metal, PPC will clean your item with a solvent to degrease or de-blue metal or will wipe it down with a cloth designed to remove dust and dirt and reduce static.

HANGING
The next step is to hang everything up. After the metal is fully prepared for paint, PPC (likely Laura) will hang your items on racks designed to properly conduct electricity in order to ensure the ionized powder adheres to the item being painted, minimizing overspray, waste, and color blending/bleeding.

PAINTING
After your item is hung and moved into the paint booth, PPC (now it's Rob's turn) will will apply your custom color using a specially designed "gun" that ionizes the powder particles and allows Rob to apply an even coat of powder that will bond with the metal.

BAKING:
In order to form that perfect bond of powder and metal, your item will be transferred into the PPC oven, which bakes the paint at around 400 degrees. Some powders and finishes require 2 or 3 trips to the oven, and some require higher or lower temps, but everything takes a trip to the oven.

COOLING and QC
After your item is baked and cooled, Rob performs a final Quality Control inspection to make sure the coating is even, at the proper thickness, smooth (or wrinkly, hammered, metal-flaked), and continuous.
