More about Project Compassion, NFP

Who We Assist: Young women ages 16-35, girls and youth in grades K-12th who are considered low-income and/or in jeopardy of becoming homeless.

What We Provide: PC-NFP has developed quality programs aimed to increase the employability of clients served while providing training to successfully transition individuals from homeliness to independence. Programs assist and address those high need areas where our clientele experience the greatest challenges toward becoming self-confident and independent, including: socialization, life skills, and developing leadership abilities. PC-NFP offers (10) workshops facilitated by a certified Life Skills Instructor: Self-esteem, Job Etiquette, Job Readiness, Financial Literacy, Health and Wellness, and Mentoring.

Programs Offered:

Striving for Excellence Program: Targets ladies 18-25 that are considered "low-income" and are working and/or enrolled in a school or a vocational training program. We assist these women with setting, implementing and reaching their goals of a successful life. Volunteers are needed to offer professional training to these young women.

Imagine-Me Summer Program: A nine (9) week summer camp for girls in grades 6th-10th. The target participants are also struggling with social issues (making and maintaining friends), new to the school which they attend, currently living in a single parent home, living in a foster care setting, or recently experienced a change in family dynamics such as: divorce, death of a loved one, etc.).

Girlz on Purpose Tour: A 1-day tour for girls 11 to 18 to navigate self-esteem, education, and character discussions in a fun, energizing, and inspiring day. The first tour was launched in 2014 and welcomed 140 from St. Clair County.

Compassion Day: Outreach Event targeting the homeless population in the St. Louis Metropolitan community. This program distributes food and supplies every 4th Saturday of each month during January to October. Project Compassion prepares and distributes non-perishable foods, hygiene, and seasonal supplies to the homeless living on the streets. Each month we prepare 800-1000 packages. Volunteers register each month to bring a group of 6 or more to assist with packing and distributing.

We also assist 7 low-income shelters with their residences by providing them with hygiene and seasonal supplies.
