Since 2005 Mike Vaughan, a Santa Monica native, has been a recognized pioneer in the Santa Monica Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) community. Mike is an ambassador for the sport who works diligently to change the engrained attitudes of the localized surf line up by showcasing the sport on breaks up and down the coast. “I knew that once people tried it they would be hooked, just like I was... The PRO SUP SHOP (www.prosupshop.com) mission is to introduce the sport to all kinds of people – from age seven to seventy, this sport is for everyone. Our motto is: Get up and stand up for a healthy life! We’re down at the beach every morning pumped to paddle – Come join us!

With SUP it’s all about experiencing and sharing the ocean. You can cruise up and down the coast alongside dolphins and seals. It clears the mind. A form of meditation – an escape at your finger tips, or in this case your toe tips.

For the uninitiated it can be an intimidating sport to get involved in -- boards are expensive, difficult to store and cumbersome to transport. We aim to make it fun and stress free for all. We are professionals who want to share our enthusiasm for the ocean and the sport we love, helping people feel comfortable and confident while enjoying the ocean and getting a chance to SUP with Mother Nature.

The PROSUPSHOP founders and principal instructors include: Mike Vaughan, Tim Sanford and Jay Butki. Combined they have over 75 years of water experience in disciplines ranging from surfing, outrigger, dory, SUP, and even a Trans-Atlantic Ocean Rally.
