Providence Church

Located in the heartland of Central Illinois,
Providence Church (formerly known as First General Baptist Church of Mattoon)
is a community of believers that hold true to God's word and His teachings.

The church was founded in 1954 and for over 60 years now, we have been passionate about serving our community by being a witness to others, teaching and preaching the Good News and wanting to see transformation in peoples lives.

In a city of over 18,000 residents, Providence still has that "small town church" atmosphere that tends to get lost in the big production setups of today, yet we are a dynamic church with a mix of people from all walks of life. When you are here, you are family.

If you are new to Providence, no worries. We understand that a new church can be intimidating and uncomfortable. We have members that would love to help you understand more of who we are and make it their duty to see that you are taken care of.​
