A Community-based Day Service Center (DSC) for Homeless Veterans will be established in Crestview, Florida. The PVAPP 4 VETERANS INC. will focus on partnering with a variety of other community agencies such as: Department of Social Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, Mental Health, Social Security, Alcohol Anonymous, Employment Security Commission, Veterans Affairs, local churches, food banks, shelters and other community agencies. The DSC for Homeless Veterans will provide a comprehensive array of educational, informational, rehabilitative services to those that are from the extremely low income or disenfranchised population. The PVAPP 4 VETERANS INC. is expected to provide a total holistic approach needed for transformation of the mind, body, soul and spirit for those within the community.DSC will utilize volunteers within the local church and surrounding churches in order to provide a highly structured and committed continuum of care to those that desire to commit to a multi-phase residential program. Each of these volunteers will undergo a two week training process in various areas with ongoing classes at the beginning of their work and throughout their volunteer process with the PVAPP 4 VETERANS INC. The training program will provide a comprehensive background of screening processes, counseling practices, ethical guidelines and procedures, and sensitivity and compassion training. DSC’s goal is ultimately to equip, educate, enlighten, and provide the spiritual tools needed for individuals to be able to reach transformation and then become self-reliant with in the community. DSC understands that no one entity can handle such a responsibility of this magnitude all by itself. For this reason; DSC desires to partner with those agencies that have already mastered the art of handling some of the complexities of those that are disenfranchised that are battling mental illness, homelessness, and poverty within the community.DSC will operate with a highly and professionally trained staff, as well as a lay trained group of individuals that have committed to and undergo pre operational training in order to be effective at reaching out to others within the surrounding areas. DSC will also commit to a 90 day trial assessment period for those entering the residential program in order to properly screen through those that have a desire to rehabilitate their lives from the ground up.
