More about Quail Brook Golf Course

Quail Brook Golf Course opened in 1982 and is considered to be one of the top public courses in Central New Jersey. It has hosted qualifying rounds for the men’s public links championships of both the Metropolitan Golf Association and New Jersey State Golf Association.

Edmund B. Ault designed Quail Brook along with his son Brian and Tom Clark. This trio, along with Bill Love, designed the original layout at the TPC of Avenel in Potomac, Maryland in the mid 1980s.

Quail Brook plays at 6,630 yards and par 72 (36-36) from the longest of four sets of tees. This tree-lined layout features a gently rolling front nine and a tighter, hillier back nine. There are five par fours of 400 yards or longer from the back tees. The longest and most difficult of these is the 18th, a 455-yard uphill dogleg right par four where the tee shot must be threaded between trees down the right side and a large bunker on the left.

Quail Brook’s well-bunkered greens come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Quite a few are narrow but deep, others are wide but shallow, and some are just plain large. Different hole positions dramatically alter the way the holes play.
