Quills Creative Writing Camp

At Quills, young writers will learn more about their craft through fun, age-appropriate writing exercises designed to explore various genres of writing such as poetry, memoir, short fiction and fables. Using the outdoors, our favorite things, music and classic tales we will tap into the things that inspire us most to create a memorable portfolio that will be read aloud to peers and parents at the end of the week. Through word and writing games, as well as other creative exercises, kids will gain confidence in their own writing skills as well as spend mornings and afternoons having fun and stretching their imaginations! Snacks and notebooks will be provided, just bring an open mind!

For the younger session, content will focus on imagination and thinking outside the box while learning the basics of creative writing. Trusting your instincts and taking risks is a focus. For the older session, content will focus on developing a perspective and identifying your personal style, as well as gaining skills in critical thinking.

For high school students who want to get a head start in brainstorming and practicing for college essays, writers can opt into the College Essay Option that will run 30 minutes longer for an additional fee.
