Radio TakeOver, situated near sunny Cocoa Beach on Florida’s Space Coast, is a radio talk show created with a “news magazine” concept. Think Kathie Lee and Hoda, only a thousand times cooler. Radio TakeOver is known locally as a mid-work week coffee break! Share our take on the week’s headlines, celebrities, entertainment, humor, and interesting guests -- news you may not hear anywhere else. We always share a strange twist that’ll get people talking around the water cooler.

ABOUT RADIO TAKEOVER
Karen Wooden is the founder, producer and host of Radio TakeOver. Originally from the Windy City, Karen grew up in the Rocky Mountains, then lived in the Golden State and the Lone Star State before coming to the Sunshine State. Karen holds a degree in Criminal Justice and a certificate in Early Childhood Education. That may explain how she can deal so effectively with her co-host. Prior to moving to Florida, Karen was a freelance photojournalist with the Waco Tribune Herald and Waco Hometown News. Karen has been a Boy Scouts of America Public Relations Chair, and volunteers at both of her son’s schools. Karen is the level-headed, cordial and polite professional host everyone loves.

Co-host and producer Chuck Fresh was born and raised in Philadelphia. Fresh paid his way through Temple University working in marketing while performing as a DJ between classes. Fresh is an internationally recognized voiceover talent, runs Brevard Marketing and the Computer Care Clinic, and hosts several popular YouTube channels. Fresh has written more than a dozen books under various pseudonyms. Fresh serves as the comic relief – he is the “left-field” guy who if full of life and performs most of the character voices – and always asks the questions “everyone else is afraid to ask.”

THIS IS A REAL, LIVE RADIO BROADCAST!
Radio TakeOver is live on the air every Wednesday from 1 to 2 pm on 1510 WMEL, a 50,000 Watt AM radio station known as the “Talk To Me Station.” WMEL has been a staple in Brevard County since 1986, and is a big part of the sports community in central Florida. WMEL offers some of the best talk radio on the dial including Herman Cain, Dave Ramsey and Laura Ingraham. WMEL won the Hometown News best talk radio station in 2014.

WMEL estimates approximately 5,000 to 7,000 listeners tune in during daytime hours, with new listeners finding the station daily as a result of the station’s increased transmission power and the recent addition of three low-power FM simulcasts distributed throughout Brevard County. WMEL is part of the Melbourne-Titusville designated market area (DMA), ranked #104 of 272 DMAs nationwide with a rapidly growing population near 500,000 persons aged 12 and over. Melbourne’s DMA is larger than Huntsville, AL, Waco, TX, Savannah, GA, Green Bay, WI, and Reno, NV.
WMEL’s largest competitor locally is the well-funded iHeart’s WMMB-AM, with a 4.4 AQH all-day share in the spring of 2016. We feel we can easily beat them in our daypart, offering a much better alternative to Rush Limbaugh, completely capturing a less-angry and largely female audience.

There are no ambushes or surprises. Our producers will provide a question outline for your review. You may revise the outline, or provide your own question outline at least 7 days before your show.

RADIO TAKEOVER IS GLOBAL!
Radio TakeOver can be streamed live on WMEL’s website, enlarging our show’s reach to a global audience. Windows or Mac computers, iPhones, Android devices, and almost any tablets are all capable of playing the WMEL radio live simulcast. WMEL estimates several hundred additional listeners stream our show over the internet. Radio TakeOver’s producers have arranged to have each of our weekly broadcasts recorded and archived, then distributed to an ever-growing audience around the world on popular websites including iTunes, iHeartRadio, Spreaker,
SoundCloud, and YouTube. Listeners can subscribe to our podcasts or streams and are notified whenever a new episode has been distributed, generating several thousands of new likes and listeners weekly.

GROWING SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE
Radio TakeOver is growing its social media presence rapidly, adding hundreds of new followers to its Facebook page, Twitter account, Instagram page, and YouTube channel weekly. Followers are presented with news and updates from our shows, including several mentions of sponsors and upcoming guests along with their associated websites and contact information. THE FUTURE OF THE TAKEOVER
Radio TakeOver has attracted the attention of several nationally known guests including House of Cards actor Jeremy Holm, America’s Got Talent finalist Sal Valetenilli, and national country music star Cheree White. RTO is growing quickly in reputation and popularity, and is poised to become a daily broadcast offering national broadcast syndication to AM and FM stations across the United State during the second half of 2017. YOU can be a part of this growing enterprise at the ground level! Sponsorships and advertisements embedded in our streaming media run FOREVER, so as our views grow, so do yours!

HOW YOU CAN TAKE OVER THE TAKEOVER!
We do require a flat-rate production fee of $150 for radio guests. Considering all the publicity on the radio, on Facebook, on YouTube, on iTunes and other places you’ll receive as a result of your appearance, you’ll find it’s easily well worth the expense.

We’re one of the few radio shows that also offers VIDEO too! Our team can capture your appearance on Radio TakeOver on video with one or two cameras, edit the footage, include YOUR OWN commercial advertisement, and post the finished video on YouTube and Facebook for a few extra dollars. You are welcomed to use that video footage in all your promotional efforts forever. And if you’re a sponsor or advertiser, we can add your own radio or television commercials into all of our own commercial breaks, which will play online indefinitely! If you don’t have a commercial, the Radio TakeOver team can write and produce that for you too.
