Ready To Work

Ready to Work is a work-based program centered on 20 hours of paid, transitional employment in supplemental sanitation in downtown Boulder and University Hill. Trainees will be paid $8 an hour and will receive priority intake at the Boulder Shelter's transition program. In addition to working 5 shifts a week, Monday through Friday, program trainees are supported by case management providing support with financial management, job readiness, housing and more.

To be eligible, potential participants must be homeless and want to achieve full-time employment and stable housing within 9 months of joining Ready to Work. Interested individuals must complete an application and agree to all terms and conditions of the program, including committing to 20 hours a week of work, saving 1/3 of their income, and staying clean and sober. Bridge House will continue to conduct intake interviews and maintain a waiting list for Ready to Work.

Trainees accepted into Ready to Work will participate in orientation, consisting of in-house work in Bridge House for 2 weeks. Upon successful completion of orientation, trainees will begin working on a supplemental sanitation crew in the community, supervised by Bridge House staff for 20 hours per week. In addition to work, trainees will be required to meet with a case manager, attend caseload meetings, and participate in financial management, job preparation and life skills classes for up to 5 additional hours per week.
