WHAT KIND OF CHURCH IS RLC?

Real Life Church is a born again, Bible-believing, Charismatic church. What does this mean? Born again means that we believe in being saved by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, believing in our heart and saying out loud with our mouth that God has raised Jesus from the dead, and that we turn from our sin and receive His forgiveness. When this happens, we are new creations in Jesus- old things are passed away, all things are become new! It really is a “life changing” experience, the “real life” God wants us to live!

Bible-believing means that what the Bible says, we believe. The Bible is the Word of God given to men inspired by the Holy Spirit. We believe it, we speak it, and we act on it! At RLC, you will find that we keep the Word of God at the center of what we say and do.

Charismatic means we believe in operating in the “charismata”, the Greek word for the gifts of the Holy Spirit listed in 1 Corinthians 12. The Holy Spirit and the Word of God create a church full of His possibilities and miracles!

WHY ARE WE HERE?

Our purpose has always been to win the lost, equip the saints, and touch the nations. We are an outreach church in that we are passionate about winning souls for Jesus and people experiencing the new creation life in Him. We are an equipping church that wants to build you up in the Word of God to live the victorious life in Jesus. We are a missional church in that we support the gospel going to the ends of the earth in any way that we can, along with serving those in our local area. We’re here for you!

WHAT WE BELIEVE:

1. The Bible Is the Inspired Word of God:
We believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God, divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit. There is power in the written Word of God, the spoken Word of God, and the Person of the Word of God who is Jesus. [II Timothy 3:16, I Thessalonians 2:13, II Peter 1:21, John 1:1,14]

2. The Godhead:
We believe in one God who is manifested in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. [Genesis 1:26, Matthew 3:16-17, Philippians 2:6]

3. Man, His Fall, & Redemption:
Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God. With Adam’s fall, sin and death came into the world. Jesus came to undo the work of the devil! Jesus gave His life to redeem and restore man back to relationship with God. [Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23-26, Romans 5:14, I John 3:8]

4. Salvation and Eternal Life:
Salvation is only possible by believing and confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Salvation is available for all people and provides eternal life for the believer. We are saved by grace through faith, not because of works. [John 3:3-5, Romans 10:9-10, II Corinthians 7:10, I John 5:12]

5. Sanctification
Sanctification (the process of being made and becoming holy) happens at the time of a Christian’s salvation and continues until Christ’s return. It is the responsibility of a Christian to mature in a Godly lifestyle. We believe the doctrine of Sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace. [Hebrews 12:14, I Thessalonians 5:23, II Peter 3:18, II Corinthians 3:18]

6. Water Baptism:
Baptism in water by immersion is a public demonstration of the believer’s salvation and is symbolic of the believer’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. [Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:4, Acts 8:36-39]

7. Baptism & Gifts of the Holy Spirit:
Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a promise from God to all believers. The initial evidence is speaking in other tongues as seen in the Bible. The Holy Spirit gives supernatural gifts to the Spirit-filled believer which are used for the edification of the church. [Matthew 3:11, Acts 1:8, Acts 2:4, Jude 20, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, 1 Corinthians 14:1-40]

8. Divine Healing:
Divine Healing is for physical or emotional sicknesses and is received from God by faith. It is the Lord’s will for the believer to walk in healing and wholeness. [Mark 16:18, James 5:14-16, I Peter 2:24, Isaiah 53:4-5, 3 John 1:2, Acts 10:38]

9. The Finished Work of Christ:
Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, we can now live in victory over sin, sickness, and the devil. After Jesus died on the cross, He took the keys of death, Hell, and the grave from Satan himself. Satan is then defeated and under our feet. [John 19:30, Matthew 27:50-53, Revelation 1:18, 1 Corinthians 15:54-57]

10. Christ’s Return:
The angels said to Jesus’ disciples, “…this same Jesus…shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven”. Jesus Christ is coming back soon to take believers to Heaven. [Acts 1:11, I Thessalonians 4:16-17]

ABOUT OUR PASTORS:

Pastors Frank & Merry Beth Policastro are the Senior Pastors of Real Life Church with two campuses here in Myrtle Beach, SC and Washington, DC. They have over 30 years of experience in ministry and operate in a spirit of excellence. Pastor Frank was an archaeologist in Israel who specialized in the Herodian period of history. He was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit while in Israel. Pastor Merry Beth was a Jewish historian also in Israel where they both met. As Pastor Frank says, “She started out working for me, but when we married, I started working for her!” Both are fluent in several languages.

Pastor Frank has a powerful testimony of being miraculously healed of an advanced stage of colon cancer. This experience has strengthened his passion to see people walk in divine healing and wholeness in the Lord. You can find out more about his testimony through the book “Talk Yourself into a Miracle: Cancer Cure” written by Pastor Merry Beth, which is available in the bookstore. Pastors Frank & Merry Beth are both passionate about the power of the spoken Word of God, the moving of the Holy Spirit, encouraging people to walk in faith and victory, winning souls, and seeing people being raised up to be who they’re called to be in Jesus. They enjoy life with their four children and their two Scotties.
