More about Reformed and Recovered

What is Reformed and Recovered?

Mission Statement
Reformed and Recovered is committed to proclaiming the saving message of Jesus Christ and the Healing Power of Recovery through the written and spoken Word.

As a ministry we are:
• Committed to Christ-based Recovery
• Dedicated to Protestant thought and Biblical Truth
• Devoted to the interweaving and mutual celebration of theology and recovery

Biblical Inspirations:
For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:5-6)

Sing to the LORD, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples! (Psalm 96:2-3)

“You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me. I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior (Isaiah 43:10-11)

Theological Affirmations
As a ministry, we fully affirm the Five Sola of the Protestant Reformation

1. Sola Scripture-God speaks to His children and directs the Church through the Divinely inspired and inerrant Word of God-all other writings and notions are helpful but contain human errors

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
2. Sola Fide-Justification by Faith Alone-Mankind is made right with God through the gift of faith. By this gift man receives Christ's perfected righteousness which has been imputed or accredited to his accounts. It is also through this faith which enables man to comprehend and receive the Saving Gospel about Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ

Romans 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

Philippians 3:8-9
Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith

3. Sola Gratia-Man is saved by the unmerited grace of God through the death of His perfect son.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

2 Timothy 1:8-9
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began

Solus Christus-Salvation is found in Christ alone through His death upon the cross. Christ suffered and died to absorb the wrath of God for those who would believe and bring them forgiveness. Christ is also our sole mediator and intercessor in heaven. No saint or angel can act in this role, nor His mother Mary.

1 John 2:1-2
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures

Soli Deo Gloria-All glory, praise, and worship is due to God and God alone. He is the only power in heaven who we are to praise and pray to.

Psalm 115:1
Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!

Romans 11:36
For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

Recovery Affirmations
We also promote and practice the Christ-Centered 12 Steps of Recovery

2. Came to believe God could restore us to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God.
