Renton Youth Advocacy Center

There will be opportunities for personal growth, volunteering in the Renton community, leadership programs and education/information on activities that promote a healthy lifestyle. The program will form partnerships with Renton area schools, civic groups and the city government. Renton Youth Advocacy Center’s goal is to foster a commitment to young people that will promote pro-social friendships, strong interpersonal skills, as well as reassert a sense of hope in the future.

Renton Youth Advocacy Center is a program that is in direct response to the growing number of young people that are either falling through the cracks at school or are facing barriers out of their control. The goal of the program is to offer a positive support system and assist in skills that will enable young people to avoid the pitfalls that can derail them. The focus is slightly different at each age but the goal remains the same; empower the person to make positive changes in his/her life. We will promote self-worth, help youth achieve academic success, encourage essential team skills and create bonds between young people and community members by creating a sense of belonging and safety.

Renton Youth Advocacy Center will focus primarily on middle and high school age youth. In particular, middle school aged youth, who are often left to fend for themselves after school and who may have little or no structure at home. Over time, Renton Youth Advocacy Center will create an environment that will be an invaluable resource to young people, aspiring mentors and the community at large.
