More about Riceboro RiceFest

The Riceboro Rice Festival is an annual celebration held the first and second weekends of November each year. The event pays homage to rice farming, which was a major economic activity in the coastal region of Liberty County in the City of Riceboro, Georgia. The first Rice Festival was held in downtown Riceboro in 2007.

The festival also commemorates the legacy of the people who lived in the coastal areas of the United States. These people were called Gullah Geechee and have influenced the coastal areas of North Carolina to northern Florida with their culture, through music, language and food.

It is now a month long celebration of events. The festival includes the RiceFest Parade, Rice Cook-Off, Homecoming Dance, Youth Essay Contest, Miss Liberty RiceFest Pageant, and Gospel Singing competition. It features food made with rice and flavors of the Cajun culture which is strong in the area. Typical fare includes rice balls, gumbo, ettouffe, pistolettes, blooming onions, crab balls, boudain balls, funnel cakes and many other delicacies. The event is renowned for its outstanding cuisine.

There will also be live musical performances from local and nationally recording artists. Come enjoy vendors, food, arts, crafts and fun!
