The Rio Sabinas Story:
A 20 year restaurant veteran from San Antonio, Texas made his way to Big Sky Country. His love for Mexican and Southwestern food inspired him to create a menu and a concept that was 100% original -- unlike anything Montana had ever experienced.

The first Rio Sabina's restaurant opened in Belgrade, Montana. The restaurant was named after a favorite sportsmen's river, the 555 mile Sabine River, which runs along the border between Texas and Louisiana and empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The Sabine River gets its name from the Spanish word “sabinas” which means cypress…the very tree that lines the banks of both sides of this lovely river.

A lot of thought went into the design of the building and the décor inside. The structure itself is heavily accented by old brick, adobe and aged wood. When you walk in, you might feel as if you are in an old mercantile building or warehouse from 100 years ago. Once inside, you are met with a wild and colorful sight meant to bring you back to the colorful past of the Southwest. You’ll see everything from regional wildlife mounts to artisanal Mexican metal artwork, from items featuring Montana icons like Evel Knievel to walls of bumper stickers and festive lights.

So, what about the food? Rio Sabina's is NOT your typical, standard Mexican fare....nor did we want to be. We wanted to bring something big and bold to Montana. The food is a fun and creative twist on traditional Hispanic culture favorites, made from incredibly fresh ingredients and crafted to let the flavors shine. A hot bed of culinary flavors. Ever wondered how to make a great tortilla from scratch? Well, you can watch it happen right in the middle of the restaurant cuz we make em' fresh and hot from scratch for every order.

We want to have the best bar in town, period. If you want to hang out with friends, listen to live music, watch your favorite TV event or just have a good time, come join us. On top of that, we have some of the coolest Latin specialty drinks you have ever tasted….rich purple concoctions infused with passionfruit to the incredible Pisco Sour which incorporates the notable sugar cane liquor with frothy egg whites.
