December 10, 1991, a meeting of interested people was held, a sub-committee was appointed to prepare a job description for a developer.
December 21, 1991, a meeting of the Peters Creek Lutheran Mission steering committee was held, the committee authorized a search for space suitable for worship services and educational purposes in the Peters Creek area and a steering committee was organized
December 31, 1991 the site committee’s recommendations were reviewed and the steering committee approved a budget proposal to be presented to Joy Lutheran Church.
January 19, 1992, Joy Lutheran Church in Eagle River approved its annual budget which included funds for a part-time pastor at Peters Creek Lutheran Mission and to assist in the new church.
January 31, 1992, space was rented at 20905 Eastside Drive, suite G-1 in Chugiak. Later another 1040 feet of space above was added
February 2, 1992, a call was extended by Joy Lutheran Church to Rev. Joseph A. Alutius as a part-time developer of Peters Creek Lutheran Mission.
March 1, 1992, the first worship service was held at 10:00 am with 55 people in attendance.
April 24, 1994, Saint Luke Lutheran Church was officially organized.
Spring 1999 Saint Luke was saddened with the resignation of Pastor Joe Alutius as our spiritual leader.
December 2001 Saint Luke called Rev. Carol George to be our full-time pastor.
Summer 2002 Saint Luke Lutheran Church name was changed to River of Life Lutheran Church.
September 2002 River of Life moved our place of worship to Mirror Lake Middle School.
Spring 2005 River of Life broke ground for our new building at 21301 Voyles Blvd Chugiak, and with the help of volunteers from our congregation and community, we were able to build our present facility and had our first service on Christmas Eve 2005.
May 2011 Pastor Carol resigned to take a call at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Anchorage.

June 2011 Rev. William Ottum was appointed as our interim pastor, River of Life continues to move forward with a nucleus of dedicated members and friends under his leadership.
