Riverside County Animal Services serves a massive area, stretching from the Orange County line in the western portion of the county, all the way to the Arizona border in the eastern pockets. The city of Riverside is the largest city that contracts with the county for animal control and shelter services.

This animal shelter is an open-admission facility.

The Riverside County Department of Animal Services is the operator of the shelter; the shelter must accept all pets that come into the shelter from the animal control officers, Good Samaritans and from community members that have found a lost pet.

NOTE: Please do not use this Facebook page when faced with an emergency animal situation. Please call 951-358-7387. We do not post lost pets/found pets on this page. We use www.petharbor.com to post all impounded animals.

Partner cities involved with the county's main shelter include these cities: Colton, Eastvale, Fontana, Jurupa Valley and the city of Riverside.

All the cities in the Coachella Valley -- except the city of Palm Springs -- contract with the county for services out of Thousand Palms-based Coachella Valley Animal Campus.

The county closed its aging Blythe facility in early 2011 and opened a new shelter closer to the heart of the city.

The construction of a new shelter in San Jacinto completed in late 2010 and the San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus shelter and clinic is up and running, assisting the public with spay & neuter surgeries. The city of Menifee is a partner city with this shelter. The city of Perris is schedule to have its stray pets transported to this facility in the fall of 2015.
