Only by showing strength in numbers can we show support asking the City Council to reverse their decision to sell the lot to developers ! They can still do it !!!

In June 2014, the City of Antioch presented a proposal to the City Council to sell the lot at the foot of E street ( between 2nd and 3rd ), demolish the Senior Center,Community Center and Community Theatre and build houses there. It is to be sold to a developer. The Council approved the idea and we have been opposing it ever since. With public outcry, we were possibly able to remove the demolition of the Senior Center, Community Center and Community Theatre - but we aren't done yet ! We would like to see a Town Square in the location instead of housing. This beautiful spot should be maintained for all people to enjoy, not just a select few who will live in the new houses. Backed by Celebrate Antioch Foundation; the non-profit organization who have brought back the Fireworks when the City was unable to fund it, our plan is to keep the parcel City Owned but run by an organization that is dedicated to community events. It is to be built with donations and we will partner with other community organizations so no public monies are spent.
