Rock Candy Tours

Rock, roll and stroll through Macon's legendary and notorious music history. See the homes, offices, crash pads and favorite haunts of some of southern music's most legendary players as well as the backstage cast of characters who played a crucial role in their catapult to fame. Rock Candy Tours offers walking and step-on tours in downtown Macon that feature miles of historic sites that helped shape rhythm and blues, southern rock, new wave punk and even the music business today.

Free Birds & Night Owls Tour: Currently offered every Friday night at 7:30 p.m., departing from the Rookery (543 Cherry St.) in downtown Macon. This easy walking tour takes just a little over an hour and pays homage to the downtown landmarks, nightclubs and favorite haunts of Macon's music history heroes. Open containers are welcomed with "pit stops" at favorite local bars along the way. The tour ends at the legendary Grant's Lounge with loud music, cold drinks and the famous Wall of Fame. Cost is $10 per person.

Rock n' Roll Stroll: Every second Saturday of the month, departing from Washington Park at 10 a.m. This moderate walking tour takes over two hours and takes you to the homes, crash pads, office spaces and favorite haunts of southern music's most legendary artists and the behind-the-scenes figures who helped put Macon on the map. It is the most extensive, "off the beaten path" tour. Cost is $15 per person (group discounts available).
