ROHN Manufacturing was founded by Dwight Rohn in 1948. Dwight, manager of the Peoria Airport at the time; built a tower for the airport and as they say the rest is history.
During the 1950’s due to the boom of television, demand was high and ROHN had a clear vision of what the public wanted; this vision lead to the development of one of the world’s largest tower manufactures. ROHN developed and designed various models during this period; some of which are still being manufactured today. One of the most popular designs was the G series; the “G” standing for galvanized. Many competitors were only offering painted towers at the time and in 1954 ROHN built their first galvanizing facility, which gave them an advantage over their competitors.
ROHN Manufacturing was later known as ROHN Industries, UNR Industries, Inc. Radian Communications and finally ROHN Products, LLC in 2008; when purchased by the O’Brien’s.
Based in Peoria, IL, ROHN has two manufacturing facilities and employs over 130 people. One facility manufactures tapered steel poles and one manufactures towers. ROHN provides structures for Telecommunications, Wireless Carriers, Sports Lighting, Utility, Wind and Transportation.
There is a ROHN structure on every continent in the world, some in the most extreme environments imaginable.
ROHN structures have also been used in movie and television productions such as “Star Trek”, where 25G tower sections were used to build the Starship Enterprise and a ROHN tower can be seen the movie “Twister” just to name a few.
ROHN is one of the most recognized names in the tower industry.
