More about Rotary Club of Plainview

A Message from Rotary Club of Plainview President Ted Baker:

Let me tell you about the Rotary Club of Plainview TX. This club is a vibrant and growing club with over 75 members. And as part of Rotary International, all of our Rotarians are part of the 1.2 million neighbors, friends, and community leaders who come together to create positive, lasting change in our communities and around the world.

Our membership represents Education, Retail and Services, Finance and Administration to name a few. We have terrific programs which educate and inspire. With the many vocations represented it is a great place to find sounding boards to improve your business. Guided by Rotary’s “4-way test”, integrity can be the priority it deserves. Being part of Rotary and a Rotary Club meeting is both fun and productive; it’s a chance to both network and fellowship.

We are a service organization and our dozen or so service efforts during the year are the Club’s life blood. Our club has invested its time and talent into this community and it’s treasure to the tune of about $40,000 over the last 3 years Mostly into Education. We sponsor the Running Water Draw Arts and Crafts show each October. October 2014 will mark the 40th annual event. I hope you get a chance to come out during the third week of that month and enjoy over 100 booths and a silent auction. Who knows what you might find their.

Rotary International launched the PolioPlus campaign in 1985 with the goal of eradicating Polio worldwide. If you don’t know what polio is, then one of the reasons is Rotary. We work alongside organizations like UNICEF and with partners like the Gates Foundation. And while there are less than a handful of countries left in the world where Polio is active, the whole world must continue to be inoculated. Our club’s total history of giving to The Rotary Foundation will this year surpass $400,000. That is a terrific number and one that we can all be proud of. This Foundation enables Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

I invite you to come in and experience the warmth and the friendliness that our Club has to offer. And while you’ll likely learn something about our community my hope is that the more you know about Rotary, the more you will want to be a part of it.
