More about Russellville Police Boxing Club

HISTORY
Recently retired Russellville police officer, Sargent John Serette, founded the Russellville Police Boxing Club in 1997. Since that time, Russellville Police Boxing has operated solely on donations from individuals and local businesses throughout the Russellville community. Until closing in 2012, the Russellville Boxing Club was located behind a retail shopping center on East Main Street in a single room basement. From 1997 until 2012 Russellville Police Boxing competed in regular weekly events held throughout the state as well as Silver and Golden Gloves tournaments. In 2009 Russellville Police Boxing began to struggle with maintaining community interest in the program due to the economic downturn. With only a small coaching staff, and a limited amount of equipment and resources, the club was no longer able to meet its mission statement and closed down in March of 2012. After closing, Mr. Serette approached two local businesses owners about relocating the Russellville Police Boxing Club with the desire of meeting its original mission statement under a new administration. The Russellville Police Boxing Club is now operated by Brian Wilson and Cora Sanders, owners of Força Martial Arts & Fitness, at an all new 2,500 square training facility along with active advisors and a new board of directors including local professors, law enforcement and members of the Russellville community.
