Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania, an affiliate of the national organization, operates 28 programs in the Commonwealth, including Ruth's Place! serving persons coping with disabilities; at-risk children and youth; people in emergency situations; those in need of employment; elderly individuals and couples on fixed incomes; individuals coping with severe and chronic mental illness; families with limited incomes; children dealing with behavioral challenges and educational deficits; and pregnant teens and teenage mothers, among others in need.
In Pennsylvania, these diverse programs and services are provided by 160 full- and part-time employees, and assisted by approximately 1,900 dedicated volunteers.
