The church was originally located in the village of Crabapple Pa. and was later moved to
Ryerson Station Pa. in 1874. The original church name was, “South Wheeling Baptist”.
It was given this name because it was located next to the South Wheeling Creek.
After being closed for some time it was reopened as a mission church by Cameron Baptist Church of
Cameron West Virginia. The church later constituted as their own entity and added the word “Ryerson”
to their name to set it apart from other churches in the association located in Wheeling West Virginia.
A new church was constructed in 2006 approximately 1.5 miles east of the original location.
The original structure is still standing and remains property of the church to this day.
