RYLA: District 5150

RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is an international program formed by the service organization Rotary International to encourage strong leadership in youth. Young people chosen for their leadership potential attend an all-expenses-paid camp to develop and enhance leadership skills through activities conducted in an atmosphere of trust and respect.

In Rotary District 5150 of San Mateo, San Francisco and Marine Counties, Rotary and Rotaract Clubs with local sponsors host an annual weekend RYLA event, RLYA Enterprise, in the gorgeous Marine Headlands at YMCA Point Bonita. High school aged students are invited to this intensive yet fun weekend to develop and foster their skills allowing each to become a contributing leader in their community and society as a whole. Throughout their stay, students are given a challenge requiring them to work together with the guidance of Rotaractor's to create an effective and ethical business model including business strategies, marketing plans and budget development. Through personal creativity and collaborating as a cohesive team, the leader in each participant is allowed to flourish giving them a sense of accomplishment and self-worth.
