Saco Salmon Restoration Alliance and Hatchery

The Saco Salmon Restoration Allliance & Hatchery aka Saco River Salmon Club is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. We have a state-of-the-art hatchery overlooking the Saco River estuary at the state boat ramp on Marblehead Lane in Biddeford.
Our organization began in 1983 with a small egg incubation and fry stocking program and has grown into a facility that can incubate up to a million eggs and fry per year at maximum capacity. In addition to raising salmon in the hatchery, we have recently employed egg planting techniques in order to allow salmon to hatch and grow in their natural habitat without human intervention.
We are proud to be apart of the Biddeford and Saco communities and seek to improve the Saco for both wildlife and human use through trash drives and education; one such educational program is the Fish Friends Program, which allows schools to raise their very own salmon and learn about their lives.
We are extremely active in negotiations for local private damn renovation and removal as well as habitat improvements.
