Saint Boniface's first services were held in the World War Veterans Hall on North Broadway Lindenhurst on the last Sunday of the month. Services were here for about a year before the Diocese of long Island purchased a small dwelling. This was the "headquarters" for the next fives years. In 1951 the congregation was constituted a "mission church" and was named in honor of Saint Boniface of Mainz, the famous Anglo-Saxon missionary and martyr (650-754AD) who is known as the "Apostle to Germany".
