Saint Peter Claver RC Church

Saint Peter Claver Church is a diverse, spiritual community of faith in action. Due to it's long standing ministry of community service and social justice Saint Peter Claver is recognized as a NJ Peace Action site.

Saint Peter Claver began as an African American Mission and is one of three churches in the United States that has the "hand of welcome" symbol. It served as a sign that all were welcome to worship together in God's house regardless of race, during an era in our country where that was not the case in most churches.

Today the beautiful, ancestral carvings on the front doors of the church serve as a symbol of the founders who endured the hardships of racism and the labor and sacrifices it took to ensure that all would be welcomed in God's house.

Saint Peter Claver has continued that mission of welcoming and opening it's doors to all of God's children who knock. Korean, Haitian and most recently Spanish. The warmth and diversity of Saint Peter Claver is truly a testimony to the Spirit of God that dwells within.
