Salem Performing Arts

The Salem School District K-12 Performing Arts Program is made up of high quality programming led by outstanding music educators. The district offers general music instruction in all five elementary schools from Kindergarten to Fifth Grade.

Students may begin band instrument instruction at grade five and string instruction at grade three.

At Woodbury Middle School, students are given the option of participating in general music, band, or chorus. Along with this, extracurricular offerings such as jazz ensemble, select chorus, and private lessons instruction are also provided.

Salem High School's music program is both comprehensive and of exceedingly high quality. Students can opt to take a myriad of music electives including beginning piano, guitar, music theory, and vocal techniques as well as participate in our nationally recognized ensembles. Ensembles include the SHS Marching Band, Concert Band, Concert Chorus, Jazz ensemble, and Color Guard/Dance. Along with this, there are many extra-curricular opportunities provided to students including After School Chorus, our select chorus called "The Devilettes," WGI Winter Percussion, and WGI Winter Guard.

Salem High School also boasts a comprehensive theatre program offering classes to students such as Introduction to Theatre, Acting, and Stagecraft. Along with this, the SHS Actors Guild provides the school community the opportunity to participate in full stage productions, musicals, and drama competitions.
