The music department offers an innovative curriculum serving the college's liberal arts emphasis. With the student as our focus, the department provides a solid musical foundation and creates an educational environment that fosters intellectual challenge, collaborative scholarship and artistic creativity.
The Bachelor of Arts in Music provides the student with a comprehensive liberal arts education. After successfully passing an audition and gaining acceptance into the Music Major, students will undertake 4 semesters of Music Theory, 3 semesters of Music History & Literature, 1 semester of World Music, 4 semesters of applied music study, 6 semesters of ensemble participation, 1 semester of music technology, a first-year seminar and a senior seminar. In addition, students are required to select a minor outside the study of music, and complete the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree.
