More about Samaki Dhararam Buddhist Temple & Khmer Kampuchea Krom Association of NJ

Samaki Dhararam Buddhist Temple and Khmer Kampuchea Krom Association of NJ is located in Camden, NJ. We are a non-profit organization that serves the Khmer community. We promote Buddhist teachings and Khmer traditions. People of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome to attend.

The Khmer Kampuchea Krom Association of New Jersey began in early 1980s by a small group of Khmer Krom men who had immigrated to Camden, NJ. They came together, defined their identity, and formed the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Association of New Jersey.

Twenty-five years ago, the word Khmer Krom or Khmer Kampuchea Krom did not exist in dictionaries or books. The group shared a special connection based on their common experiences, language, and culture. They wanted to make Khmer Krom known to the world. They decided to form an unofficial association to help new refugees in South Jersey. After a long process of historical research and countless debates, the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Association of New Jersey was officially launched in 1987.
