The San Juan Bautista Mission Conservation Program is an offshoot of the Alta California Mission Research Project initiated by California State University, Monterey Bay, archaeologist Ruben G. Mendoza in the fall of 1995. With the support of Phil Hudner, JD, and the Louise Davies Foundation and Field Fund, and the California Missions Foundation, the project has raised over $1 million dollars since 1996 for the ongoing rehabilitation, historic preservation, conservation, and archaeology at the Old Mission.
