More about Sandisfield Snowmobile Club

The Club first began being put together in Fall of 2001. The initial founder was Frank Koehnowitz. Frank owned a weekend home on Lower West St. in Sandisfield. He was elected our 1st President in November of 2001. He remained in that position for 3 years before stepping down as he developed health issues, Cancer. He fought a gallant battle, which he lost in July of 2006.
During his time, Frank led the club in many directions. In 2002 he negotiated a $5000 grant through S.A.M., which was accepted in the Fall of 2003. This money went towards the first club sled that George Munson and Alan Annecharico bargained for with their good friends Bonnie & Roger Harbour at the New Boston Crane Service & Sleds. They purchased a 2004 Arctic Cat Bearcat with a wide track, great sled. New Boston Crane has done so much for our club from the beginning. Roger spoke to his friend that lived next to New Boston Crane, Anthony Morese, who built us our first drag for the sum of $900. Again, another great deal thanks to the Harbour's.
In the year 2004, the Presidency was passed, and George Munson was elected President. To this day, Mr. Munson is still our club’s President. Our trail system has been steadily growing and improving from season to season. The improvements have been accomplished by many hands, too many to name. We have miles of trails, many of which are through our kindhearted neighbor’s land. The club would like to thank all of the helping hands and generous land owners that have allowed us to bridge the gaps in our trail system.
Our current plans are to extend our trails to Monterey and Beartown Mtn. State Forest. We now have an official Trail Map and Website, both designed by Elijah Holland. There have been a couple of snags along the way for the club, which most clubs encounter. All in all, we have a great club, full of approachable, friendly people. We would like to thank everyone who helps and donates their time and effort for the advancements of the club. It’s the people that make everything about the club possible. Ride safe and enjoy yourself.
