More than 65,000 people attend concerts or music education programs each year. In addition to the musical offerings and musician training listed above, the Symphony's music education outreach consists of: pre-concert talks, free concerts for youth (8 per year, nearly 8,000 total attendance), an in-school daily music listening program (over 250 classrooms), in-school performances by professional ensembles, and a music immersion program for 4 selected elementary schools each year, including curriculum materials. The organization has won recognition for community involvement with such projects as A Child of Our Time (Met Life Award for Excellence in Community Engagement) and benefit concerts such as one following Hurricane Katrina.
The symphony has a 36-member board of directors, an administrative staff of 14 (includes part and full time), 6 artistic staff, 9 academic faculty (summer), and over 100 volunteers (ushers, concert help, parent help, Symphony League)
