Saraha Nyingma Buddhist Institute

Saraha Nyingma Buddhist Institute (or "Saraha" for short):

Dedicated to the Buddha's teachings of Enlightenment, and practicing according to the Dudjom Lineage of the Nyingma School Tibetan Buddhism under the leadership of HH Dudjom Yangsi Rinpoche, and Lama Sonam Tsering, Saraha is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit religious organization based in Eugene, Oregon, USA.

Saraha functions both as a local Buddhist temple, hosting daily meditation and ritual practice according to the tradition of the Dudjom Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism; and as an educational institute, a wide-ranging non-sectarian resource for teachings and study of materials derived from other Buddhist lineages and backgrounds.

As a local center, Saraha is a center for for community gathering, meditation practice, and on-site training in various Buddhist educational subjects, such as meditation, translation and Buddhist ritual.

As an Institute, Saraha conducts educational courses, operates an onsite library, invites the teachings Buddhist teachers from different backgrounds, conducts translation work and publishes Buddhist teachings online.

The Institute's onsite library of Buddhist texts embodies its non-sectarian goal of providing access to educational resources across the wide spectrum of Buddha's teachings.

Through its website and online electronic media, Saraha also supports distance-learning in Buddhist subjects, and offers to the world a digital archive of events that happen at and in connection with its local presence in Eugene.

Saraha Children's School:

The Institute is also the home of Saraha Children's School (SCS), grades K-8. SCS is a multiple award-winning, Oregon State-registered non-profit alternative education private school, employing project-based learning methods and integrating child-oriented Buddhist teachings of mindfulness, kindness and compassionate virtue within a full and rigorous academic curriculum.
