Jeffrey Bloomberg, DVM & Katherine Bloomberg, DVM

Dr. Jeffrey Bloomberg graduated with High Honors from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Animal Science in 1997 and received his DVM from the University of Illinois in 2001. He and his wife, Dr. Katherine Bloomberg, were the owners of Park-Wise Animal Hospital prior to Park-Wise Animal Hospital joining together with Schaumburg Veterinary Hospital in November 2011. Dr. Jeffrey Bloomberg's professional interests include breed-specific risks for disease and utilizing that information to prevent illness in his patients. He also has a strong interest in laser surgery and has completed advanced training for a number of procedures. Dr. Bloomberg enjoys playing basketball and the outdoors in his free-time. He and his wife, Dr. Katherine Bloomberg, have three children. Dr. Katherine Bloomberg earned a Bachelor's of Science from Northern Illinois University in 1997, and is a 2001 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She has spent time working as a shelter veterinarian and has a strong interest in animal rescue and welfare. Dr. Katherine Bloomberg is a member of the AVMA and ISVMA. In her spare time she enjoys gardening and camping.

Casey Levine, DVM

Dr. Casey Levine graduated from the University of Maryland in College Park with a B.S. in Zoology. She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Her interests include feline medicine, cardiology, and internal medicine. She also has a strong interest to obtain a certification in veterinary acupuncture in the near future. Dr. Levine is a member of the AVMA, VVMA, and Phi Zeta, the veterinary honor society. In her spare time, Dr. Levine enjoys reading, traveling, and scuba diving. She also enjoys spending time with husband and their two cats, Layla and Major Tom

Joseph DeSa, DVM

Joseph rejoined Schaumburg Veterinary Hospital in September 2015. He grew up in the Dominican Republic and then lived in Puerto Rico for several years. In 2005, he obtained his first job as a veterinary technician after volunteering throughout the summer in a small animal hospital. He continued this while completing his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Puerto Rico. Joseph went back to his home country in 2008 and obtained his degree in veterinary medicine in June 2012. As part of this degree, he had to complete a doctorate thesis, focused on comparing variables associated to canine arterial hypertension. He came to the Chicago area shortly after graduation, started working in various small animal hospitals as a veterinary technician and enrolled in the PAVE program of the AAVSB. Between 2012 and 2013, Joseph took and passed all his veterinary licensing board exams. Joseph has worked in various small animal hospitals since 2006, including Schaumburg Veterinary Hospital, which he joined in January 2013. In September 2014, Joseph left Schaumburg Veterinary Hospital to pursue a veterinary clinical year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which he completed in September 2015. This fulfilled the last requirement of PAVE’s (AAVSB) certificate process, which enabled the acquirement of an Illinois veterinary license. As part of this clinical year, he completed an anesthesia and pain management focused externship at the Buffalo Grove Specialty Center and a two-week externship in Schaumburg Veterinary Hospital. Joseph enjoys spending time with his wife and family and talking in Spanglish with his three dogs (Chispa, Morena and Gibson)

Jennifer Ondera, DVM

Dr. Jennifer Ondera graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign with a B.S. in Animal Science and then went on to pursue her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2013. Afterwards, she completed a small animal internship including exotics, zoo, and emergency medicine in 2014. She then spent the next couple of years practicing emergency medicine, before transitioning to general practice, and joining Schaumburg Veterinary Hospital in the summer of 2017. Dr. Ondera is a member of the AVMA and ISVMA. Her interests include behavior, exotics, and rehab medicine. In her spare time, she loves traveling, hiking with her dogs Sophie, Ruby Leigh, and Maggie, and reading.
