Schrodt Art Studio offers solid teaching in an atmosphere of fun, employing the “Schrodt Method” of oil painting instruction, a method perfected by Mary Louise Schrodt during her more than thirty years experience teaching art. A proven, “user-friendly” approach to oil painting, the Schrodt Method offers a practical, step-by-step procedure to color mixing and paint application. Even the “I can’t draw a straight line” person will be amazed at what they can achieve using this process.

All levels of expertise in oil painting are welcome at Schrodt Art Studio. Showing artists paint alongside students with little or no experience. Many Schrodt students have been with the Studio for over fifteen years; but because of its unique approach, Schrodt Art Studio is an ideal place for novice as as well.

Most of the painting is done using photographs as a reference. Beginners choose from a file of simple-subject-matter pictures. First canvases are small and do not take a long time to complete; however, they acquaint the student with the Schrodt Method of teaching and allow the instructors to see how he or she approaches the painting so they can provide the best guidance.
