Schwartz Bakery was established in 1954 as the first kosher bakery in Los Angeles. Since its inception Schwartz Bakery has served the greater Los Angeles community as a staple business catering to some of the most lavish hotels, synagogues, major supermarkets, as well as its 3 retail locations. Throughout the years, Schwartz Bakery has thrived as an organization that has put a tremendous emphasis on quality control, product design and customer service. Our bakery has been family owned and operated for the past 30 years. Originally from Morocco, the Sibony family purchased the bakery from the Schwartz family in 1979. As the Jewish population in Los Angeles grew so did the Schwartz’s product line. Today, Schwartz Bakery is the kosher bakery industry leader in breads, pastries, cakes, danishes, cookies, etc…

As of 2005, the principals of Schwartz Bakery in order to adapt to the current times decided to embark on a complete renovation and remodeling of all of their retail branches. The newly constructed bakeries, while aesthetically pleasing now offer a full service café. Once again, Schwartz Bakery achieved its status as the cutting edge bakery of industry by introducing this concept. Schwartz Bakery has always adapted to the changing times and will continue this going forward and well into the future.

Circa-NY

Circa NY is a concept that was launched approximately eight years ago in NYC and has spread as a franchise with 6 current locations. The Circa-NY concept appealed to the Schwartz Bakery principals in 2005 when they decided to renovate and remodel their 3 locations. The principals of Schwartz Bakery approached the owner of Circa NY at the time to request permission to purchase the name as well as the recipes. After much negotiation the deal was consummated in the early part of 2006 prior to the opening of the Circa-NY restaurant on Pico Boulevard. Subsequently, the Circa NY restaurant on Fairfax Avenue opened 6 months later.

The Circa NY restaurant has assisted Schwartz Bakery in becoming a one-stop shop for bakery as well as café items. With the addition of the Circa-NY café’s in each of the Schwartz locations, Schwartz Bakery has been able to offer their customers an extended line of items, as well as services. The uniqueness of the combination of both of these two leaders in their industry has catapulted the Schwartz Bakery-Circa-NY retail business into a league of its own.
