Scouts Of Service Members - SOS

S.O.S. serves as a special operations group that works within a Scouting unit. We have made it our mission to assist our Veterans: past, present and future build bonds with their Scouts. We conduct operations to seek out and include any age appropriate current or potential Scout. We focus on engaging Veterans through a 3 step process called “FUN” being Friendly, creating an Understanding and recognizing their Needs.

• Scouts of Service Members is a Veteran focused special operations group within Scouting. We understand the struggles our Veterans face every day, knowing that some Veterans will only open up to another Veteran. This is especially true for veterans and families who have suffered service related trauma.

• Two thirds of Scouting spells “Outing” and Scouts live for outdoor adventure. These outings and camping trips are designed to build bonds between the Veteran and the S.O.S. Scout while motivating the S.O.S. Scout to earn the highest awards in Scouting.


• Through the concept of “FUN” we provide a safe environment for the S.O.S. Scout to bond with their service member.

• The Scout Oath reflects what we value. “On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”


• Scout Law provides our guiding principles. “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”
