Southern Scrumptious Favorites by Betty Sims of Decatur, Alabama, was released in November 2010. The hardcover book is currently in bookstores, gift shops, and home stores across the country. The author, Betty Sims, grew up; in Cartersville, Georgia. She attended the University of Tennessee, where she majored in Foods and Nutrition and met her husband, Dr. Bill Sims, a Decatur orthopedic surgeon. They had four children and have seven grandchildren. The Sims live in Decatur on a farm called Sunshine.
Betty co-authored the Junior Service League of Morgan Country Cookbook, Cotton Country Cooking, which has sold over 200,000 copies and continues to be in demand. She also owned and operated a very successful restaurant, Johnston St. Cafe and catering service for ten years. Betty is a food consultant and owns a cooking school plus serving on many community boards.
Southern Scrumptious Favorites is a collection of recipes and menus from her cooking classes. Her love of entertaining family and friends is expressed throughout the book.
