More about Sea Eagle Market and Good Eats

Sea Eagle Market and Good Eats is a family owned and operated retail and wholesale market and a family restaurant. Together the Reaves Family owns shrimp trawlers and several skiffs used for oystering, clamming and crabbing, which allow us to provide Wild Caught South Carolina Seafood and Certified SC Seafood through the SC Department of Agriculture, to SC. After 40 years in the seafood industry, we are well connected on the Carolina coast. Things that we don’t catch ourselves, we buy from other local docks supporting local fishermen. We are harvesters of the ocean’s bounty.

About the Family

The Reaves Family has been in the seafood business since 1970 when Laten Reaves started Reaves Brother’s Seafood in Holden Beach, North Carolina. Since then, we have been a part of every aspect of the seafood business. From owning shrimp trawlers, to shrimp docks, to restaurants. In 1980, Laten and Alice opened their first restaurant, Reaves Fish Camp. Over the years, the Reaves Family has owned 5 restaurants. Although the Reaves family no longer own restaurants, you can still enjoy great food at local festivals and catering events.

Laten and Alice have passed along their love of the seafood industry to the next generation; Craig & Cameron. You will see Laten in the market when he’s not out on one of the family shrimp trawlers. After eight years of battling cancer, Alice stays close to home enjoying retirement and taking care of their grandchildren and great grandchild. Today she is cancer free.

In 1993, Craig and Jana started C.J. Seafood which is a wholesale business, delivering seafood to Myrtle Beach. Over the past 20 years, they’ve continued to have a thriving wholesale business. Delivering fresh seafood all over the state of SC and have grown into two retail locations: Sea Eagle Market & Good Eats (located at 2419 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC) and C.J. Seafood Express (located at 1421 Ribaut Rd in Port Royal, SC).

Craig and Jana’s children, Melena and C.J. are very involved in the day to day business operations. Melena works in the office handling accounts receivables, you’ll see her at the TD Saturday Farmer’s Market in Greenville, festivals and catering events, and she is also our team captain for our Smokin’ Sea Eagle Competition BBQ Cook Team. C.J. is in charge of our wholesale processing department, and is just an all around helper to his dad. Although, Craig & Jana’s daughter , Molleigh is only 5, she has made her presence known in the family business. When she’s not at school or with GaGa she is greeting customers as they come in the store. In addition we have been blessed to have a couple of other young people in our lives. Brandon Wells came into our lives when he was just 13 and now at 21 he runs his own shrimp trawler and is a commercial shellfisherman. Michael Evans has been a part of our family off and on since he was 4. He is now activy duty in the Army. However, when Michael is home he’s helping at the market, working on one of the trawlers, or in the river oystering.

Craig’s brother, Cameron, is owner operator of one of the family shrimp trawlers, and he’s a commercial shellfisherman. When he’s not out fishing, he’s helping around the market or with catering events.

Craig’s sister, Becky Woods, works as a dental hygienist for a local Beaufort dentist. She loves getting on the water with her husband, children and family any chance she can.
