Summary of our Theology
Second Presbyterian Church . . .
As a “Church,” we know that we are stronger when we recognize both that our gifts come from the grace of God and that they make sense in service to others (1 Corinthians 12:4-7).
As “Presbyterian,” we know that “all have fallen short of the glory of God,” but never short of God’s loving care (Romans 3:23-24).
As “Second,” we know that—just like churches—each of us sometimes needs a second start and a second chance (Luke 15:11-32; John 8:1-11).
As a small church, we value community and the gifts of each member.
As a joyful church, we recognize that the gospel is good news and that it is worth celebrating and sharing.
As a seeking and open church, we know that we are strengthened by diversity and by the questions, hopes, and experiences that each person brings.
As a serving church, we recognize that God’s grace rains down on us, and that we are called to respondin service and love to others.
