At Second Story Knits, we offer beautiful yarns, expert advice, and a warm and friendly atmosphere. You do the rest – and it’s amazing what you can do!

A delicate lace shawl? An indestructible toddler sweater? We’ve got you covered. Our yarns include everything from hearty basics to sinful luxury fibers – although we will confess to a preference for hand-dyes and natural fibers.

Just starting out? Need to brush up a skill? Learn something new with one of our project and technique classes, or take an individual lesson to master something tricky.

Want to stitch with others? Come share your latest project at our weekly community knit/crochet night, or drop in any time for some quick help.

*FAQ*

Is there parking nearby?
Yes. There is a small lot next to the store with free parking. If that is full, there is a large Montgomery County lot across Wisconsin Avenue, behind the Farm Women’s Market. Parking is free there on Saturday and Sunday.

Can I get to you by Metro?
Yes, we’re a five-minute walk down Wisconsin Avenue from the Bethesda station (Red Line).

How can I sign up for classes?
For now, please call the store (301 652 8688) and someone will be happy to help you sign up.

What if I want to learn something that isn’t being offered in a class?
Call the store, and we’ll set you up with an individual lesson. This is a great way to get individual attention to help you learn a new skill quickly.

I’d like to knit with a group. Is that possible?
Second Story Knits holds a free community knit/crochet night every Wednesday from 7 to 9, and all are welcome. We also offer morning and evening sessions of paid knitting groups with an instructor on hand to answer all your questions.

What if I just need some quick help?
We’re always happy to help with an easy fix or interpreting instructions, so come on in.
