Secret Trail Brewing Company

Our story started back in 1993, when Charlie Barrett brewed his first batch of homebrew. He fell head over heals in love with the challenges and rewards of brewing, and dreamed someday he would open his own craft brewery. After brewing steadily for 3 years he took some time off from brewing to spend more time raising their 2 children.
Fast forward to 2011, when Charlie and Michelle’s son, Matt, took a class at UC Davis on beer appreciation taught by Charles W. Bamforth. Matt nudged Charlie to get back into brewing, so the Barrett’s then built a 15-gallon all-grain electric brewery. Since that time Charlie has brewed 65 batches of beer on that system. He has won numerous awards and gotten rave reviews at several weddings for his beers.
Secret Trail Brewing Company is an artisan craft brewery in planning. It will be a 15-barrel production brewery with a tasting room. Secret Trail is a collaboration of Charlie Barrett and his wife Michelle, Jesse Fischer, and investors. We seek to be a community-focused, locally- sourced brewery making both the classic styles and original innovations. We aim to make the highest quality, freshest beer possible for Chico and beyond.
